Decanter centrifuges and tri-canters were developed to replace slow settling tanks. They use centrifugal force for rapid and continuous separation of liquids from solids, meeting the need for faster and controlled industrial processes.
Operation principal of Centrifugal Decanter: Horizontal, cylindrical/conical solid bowl centrifuge for the continuous separation of a liquid and a sedimenting solid. The clarified liquid flows to the cylindrical end of the bowl where it is discharged under pressure via an adjustable impeller. The externally adjustable impeller allows for the quick and precise adjustment of the pond depth inside the bowl during operation, to accommodate changing feed conditions. The settled solids are conveyed to the conical end of the bowl where they are discharged through ports via centrifugal force.
Drum filters or vacuum filters have been used for dewatering various slurries including gluten in corn starch processing system. As the drum rotates, it is partially submerged in the feed gluten slurry. Vacuum draws liquid through the filter medium (cloth) on the drum surface which retains the solids. The vacuum pulls air through the cake and continues to remove moisture as the drum rotates. If required, the gluten cake can be washed to remove impurities or to extract more product.
Finally, the gluten cake is discharged from the drum to a conveyor or chute to the next process step. The filtrate and air pulled through the medium flow through internal filtrate pipes and pass into the filtrate receiver. The liquid stream is separated from the vapour stream in the receiver. Liquid filtrate is then pumped to the next step in the process.
A typical Hydro Cyclone System consists of batteries of cyclones in completely unitized and enclosed housings, arranged for efficient counter current starch washing mainly, but used for various other applications in starch industry as well. The centrifugal forces needed to make the separation in hydro cyclones ( cyclonettes ) are derived from energy supplied by pumps. The high rotational velocities in the individual cyclones cause the starch as heavier phase to concentrate in the underflow while the suspended lighter particles which are protein, small starch particles and etc. follow the overflow wash water stream. The multistage systems provide easy and precise control of the process, resulting in the uniform, high quality starch required in today’s highly demanding marketplace.
Slurry is pumped directly to the center of the conical rotating screen basket. Under centrifugal force, the starch is flushed through the screen onto the back of the basket and leaves the centrifugal sieve while fiber/pulp sliding off the screen and leaves the sieve from the front outlet. Water spraying nozzles inside and outside of the basket ensures fiber/pulp washing and prevent screen blockage.
Wet starch cake is fed into feed mechanism. The screw feeder gives controlled feed at rated capacity to disintegrator. The air is heated after passing through air filter. Hot air and wet starch cake get thoroughly mixed in the disintegrator. Drying duct conveys the pulverized material to cyclone and drying gets completed in conveying duct. The time taken by disintegrated powder to travel through drying duct is called residence time of drying. The material loses moisture that is absorbed by hot air. The temperature of air reduces while its humidity increases. Powder is further dried in cyclone. Separation of dried powder and air takes place in cyclone. Powder is discharged from cyclone through powder air-lock. As per customers requirement there is option of using bag filter to maximize the efficiency

The belt conveyors are with nylon or polymer or steel cord belting. All belt conveyors are provided with skirt arrangements in feed points, scrappers and safety switches as standard accessories along with technological structure like drive frames, pulley frames, stringers, short posts, deck plates etc.
Belt conveyors cannot provide suitable solutions in all situations. When we encounter difficulties and limitations due to site conditions like topography, space availability, restrictions due to environmental requirements/ regulations, material properties etc., we need to find an alternative to belt conveyors which are open troughed.

A belt feeder is suitable for many applications and capacities.
It is provided with full length impact pads/impact idlers as required for absorbing the impact of falling material and are reliable equipment.
A belt feeder also can be used in reversible mode and thus can be used in locations like crusher/ screen houses where feeding to the equipment is required. The belt feeder can ensure proper feeding to a crusher or screen and also will reduce the impact of falling material directly on a screen etc. It is ideal for close volume control of feeding material like sand and gravel and also for dry and fine materials. It has a simple structure easy to adjust.
The volume can be controlled within 1% by providing a variable frequency drive and operated/ monitored thus from a remote station.
Slat chain conveyors are another type of chain conveyor which uses many types of interleaving segments to form a slat type chain of either synthetic polymer or stainless steel construction, in either low friction or friction grip styles.
They are used in high wear areas often handling individual packets or cans in can filling or bottling operations. They are also used extensively in food manufacturing applications.
Heavy versions of the slat conveyors can be seen in freight handling applications where loads and impact are quite high. Traditionally heavy slat conveyors are constructed using hardwood slats or rubber with steel sheet base fixed on to parallel chains.
Vertical conveying by chain conveyors with inclination angle upto 45 degrees is used for handling difficult materials like bagasse in sugar mills as bagasse carriers and in power plants for feeding boilers using vertical slats either of fork type or plain sheet of steel.
Dry drag chain conveyors can be applied to precipitators, fabric filters, boiler hoppers or cyclones for the collection of fly ash. These units handle fly ash in a dust-tight, air-tight construction which provides dust and fire control.
The drag chain conveyors can move materials at very low speeds to a storage and/or disposal location, and can have up to a 35 degree incline. These conveyors occupy minimum space with maximum materials handling capabilities.
The drag chain conveyors can withstand higher temperatures and have a dust-tight casing of steel.

This continuous fermentation system offers advantages like consistent operation, high efficiency, and long-term performance. It uses specialized yeast, four fermenter tanks with essential accessories, and maintains a healthy yeast population. Saccharified slurry is diluted, inoculated with yeast, and temperature-controlled. Recirculation aids in mixing, and fermentation completes in 50-55 hours. The resulting mash is sent for distillation.
Evaporation is the process of vaporization of solvent from solution in order to increase the concentration of the solute. Evaporation is extensively energy intensive unit operation.
Evaporators:-
Water from fresh water sources like rivers, canals, lakes, springs, tube well etc. is pre-treated in a water treatment plant of a suitable configuration.
Depending on the quality of water required in the process a suitable combination of above processes is selected.
Water is used in steam boiler, fermentation, cooling tower, make-up water, floor washing, Cip of equipment, etc.
Major water consumer in distillery is fermentation process wherein water is used for dilution. The Spentwash received from primary column (1st column) of distillation section is taken to wastewater treatment plant for suitable reuse & recycle. Part of the spentwash generated in the process is also recycled back to the fermentation.
